My late grandfather, one of the pioneer railroad engineers on Vancouver Island, was a great influence on my life. I recall him telling me when I received my first award from the Vancouver Province newspaper “Son, remember this, honour seeks the man, the man does not seek the honour.”

I just received a letter from the Premier of the Province of British Columbia informing me that I have been appointed to the Order of British Columbia. The investiture ceremony will take place on Tuesday July 26 at Government House in Victoria. What an outstanding honour and recognition of my birth province and my career in broadcasting! Thank you for your email, message and phone congratulations. It was totally unexpected.
