Catching Up With Don North

You may remember Don North as an ABC foreign correspondent, reporting mostly from Vietnam. The man has led a storied life. He was hired by Peter Jennings back in the Sixties. He has travelled the world and has had bullets flying over his head for decades. He is a gentleman, but he is also a fierce competitor and fears almost nothing. We met up last weekend and had lunch at the Bayshore Inn. Don is active as a photo journalist and he is one of the best.

I first met Don when he was the head of his class at Ladner High. He invited me to emcee a dance at his school. In those days I had to take a ferry to get to the school as there was no tunnel under the Fraser River until 1959. We have kept in touch over the years. I have urged him to write a book as his adventures could become a movie.
