Remembering Elvis

If Elvis had lived he would have turned 77 this Sunday, January 8. When I saluted Elvis on Red’s Reunion on the Breakfast News on Global TV this week, I mentioned that Elvis had sold one billion records worldwide. No one will come that close again.

I also pointed out that a project I worked on with RCA Canada titled Elvis: A Canadian Tribute is on the walls at Graceland in the racquetball court where you can see hundreds of gold and platinum records. This vinyl album went double platinum in Canada and gold in the U.S. and the U.K.

Elvis sings Jailhouse Rock from the album. My voice is heard as the needle drops.

Later we put out a more comprehensive CD with additional songs and interviews. It is now a collectors item.

The Global piece contained a rare appearance by Bruce Allen onstage with me at the PNE in 2007 on the 50th anniversary of Elvis’ appearance at the fair. Over 11,000 people attended. In addition we brought on Elvis’ best friend Joe Esposito.  Also included in the Global show: an interview with Elvis guitar player James Burton. Elvis was indeed the King of Rock and Roll.
