Michael Eckford has invited me to be a guest on his CKNW radio show. As I enter the building his former co-host Fiona Forbes greets me and asks if I know there is an online petition to save the Red Robinson Show Theatre name. Bruce Allen drew everyone’s attention to the situation on his Reality Check feature on CKNW.

Fiona invited me to appear on her Shaw TV show Rush. It was great to have a chance to give my side of the story.

In our interview I said that I only worry about things I have control over, but of course I was disappointed. I felt this was going to be a lasting legacy for my family, but this was a corporate decision.

I have had a great relationship with Great Canadian since 2006, when the theatre was named in my honour by former CEO Ross McLeod.

The changeover takes place December 20 at the newly renovated Hard Rock Casino. It has been a great seven years introducing some of the top acts in music, from Tony Bennett to Michael Bublé, it has been a blast.

As Bob Hope used to say, “Thanks for the memories…” and a huge THANK YOU for supporting me and the theatre over the years.
