Tony Bennett, Boz Scaggs At The “Red”

Another incredible weekend at the Red Robinson Show Theatre. The Friday night show was a total delight with a true icon in pop music, Mr. Tony Bennett. His show was seamless and his daughter was much improved as a singer since I last saw her. Tony did all the usual standards and sprinkled in some of his early hits including Cold,Cold Heart, his first million seller written by Hank Williams. Tony also announced that he is working on a new CD with Lady Gaga, whom he referred to as a great talent. Now that is a contrast of styles!

Saturday night was Boz Scaggs in concert. This is a smooth singer and guitar player who captivates an audience. He told me backstage that June 8 was his birthday, so I told the sold-out crowd the news. When Boz appeared on stage some folks in the theatre yelled “Happy Birthday, Boz!” and then the entire audience sang Happy Birthday. He was so taken aback that he put his hands to his forehead and said “This has never happened to me before in my career… and I want to thank all of you.” He is a sincere gentleman.

You must see these incredible performers while you can. Be sure to get tickets next time they are in town.
