TVWeek photos, VMI awards

It has been a busy month and a half.  Two highlights come to mind. My final column and front page cover of TVWeek magazine was an awesome thing to behold.  The photographer took some wonderful photos and the one photo that everyone compliments me on is the silhouette shot taken inside the Red Robinson Show Theatre. My friends and family agree that it is outstanding.

Twenty years and over 1000 columns later, that part of the journey is over. However, I will continue to update regular media comings and goings in our city here on my blog. Stay tuned each week right here on this page.

My award from the Vancouver Music Industry was an amazing evening for Carole and me. Bruce Allen gave a heartwarming speech and presented me with the Legend Award. My 50 years in radio flashed by that evening and memories of a struggling young deejay came to mind. I always wanted to promote B.C. talent and it began with the formation of a rock and roll band in the Fifties (The Stripes), the formation of my own record company (Arctic) and taking bands and recording stars to as many corners of the province I could. Those were exciting times and pioneer times. To be recognized by the music industry for these contributions means a lot to me. And when Sarah McLachlan presented me with a trophy on behalf of the youngsters in her Foundation, inscribed “An inspiration to us all”, I nearly lost it on stage. This evening meant a lot to me and my family. Thank you once again.
