#1 Buddy Holly Fan

Red, My name is David Agius and I am writing this email to you from Malta.

I lived in Australia for 30 years between 1963-1993.  I have been hooked on Buddy Holly‘s music since 1956, and I have been playing his records ever since.  I collect everything and anything that has to do with Buddy Holly and the Crickets.  I never met Buddy Holly, but I met the Crickets in 1987 when they were doing concerts in Sydney, Australia.  I even corresponded with Buddy Holly’s brother Larry, and he corresponded back, and even with his niece Shirley Holley.  She also answered back.

In Australia I used to do radio programs, which used to consist of a lot of Buddy Holly music, and even television appearances related to Buddy Holly.

I was a member of the Buddy Holly Memorial Society and the Rockin’ 50’s.  Sadly, both stopped being published.  Now that I am living in Malta, I am known as the number one Buddy Holly fan in Europe.

I have read a lot about you – I even have a photo of you, framed in my ‘Buddy Holly’ room- I got it from the Buddy Holly Memorial Society.

Here in Malta I do radio programs consisting of 50’s and early 60’s music, especially Buddy Holly’s music.  On the 7th of September and 3rd February they are nothing but Buddy Holly days; plus his life story, and information about yourselves.

Here in Malta I am known as the number one Buddy Holly fan in Malta. possibly even in Europe.

I will be most obliged if you could send me a photograph or a poster, or even on a piece of paper, possibly signed by yourselves, so that I can frame it and hang it with the rest of my collection in my ‘Buddy Holly’ room.

Red, thankyou for your involvment with Buddy Holly and other artists!  Hope to hear from you soon.

BUDDY HOLLY NUMBER 1 FAN IN EUROPE,

David Agius

I want to thank David Agius. It is great to see Buddy Holly’s memory is still alive. I put out my interview with Buddy years ago on a CD titled Visions of Buddy. And a photo (autographed) is on its way to David.
