Beatlemania Returns To Vancouver!

This year’s Pacific National Exhibition opens with a tribute to The Beatles. The Fab Four appeared at Empire Stadium in Vancouver on August 22, 1964. I was the emcee for that historical event:

I will also emcee this show from the Global Stage on the PNE grounds on the exact date and time: 8:15pm. I asked Pat O’Day, former deejay and program director at KJR/Seattle to share the stage with me and share some memories of the Beatles’ appearance in Seattle the day before. Pat has agreed and it will be a memorable evening.

The  tribute band is Revolver (after the Beatles’ huge 1966 LP) and features well-known singer Michael Sicoli and former Prism drummer Rocket Norton. They have “come together” for this very special evening. Revolver is one of the first bands to honor the Beatles and it is uncanny how they recreate the sound.

In addition to the great  Beatles’ music, a large screen near the stage will bring you the  excitement of that benchmark day back in 1964 with unique footage  taken from my own files and from the files of the Vancouver Police  Department. Souvenir posters from the 1964 concert will also be on sale at the fair. I have ordered a limited number of The Beatles Tapes: The Beatles in the Northwest. This historical CD will be available right after Revolver’s salute to the Beatles.  A limited supply these CD’s are also available at the Red Robinson Show Theatre.

45 years is a long time ago… but the memories live on for those who took in the event. If you were not there come out and see what all  the fuss was about.
