Bill Medley at “The Red”

Spent a wonderful evening at the Red Robinson Show Theatre with Bill Medley. I have known Bill and the late Bobby Hatfield since 1962 when they first played the Cave Theatre Restaurant. I also booked the Righteous Brothers into Expo 86 with business partner Les Vogt. I reminded Bill that he and Paul Revere and the Raiders were the opening act that launched the theatre 4 years ago. He remembered it well. We also both recalled the appearance by the Righteous Brothers on the Beatles 1964 tour which included Vancouver. He said he and Bobby loved the Beatles but hated  the tour because when they were one of the opening acts the Beatles fans kept shouting “We want the Beatles”.

I showed Bill a photo of the show they put on for CISL at the Coliseum in the Nineties. Bill said that Vancouver is one of his favorite spots. He also told me how much he loved the rockin’ music of Bryan Adams, which I passed on to Bruce Allen and to Bryan. On this tour his daughter McKenna is part of the show. This lovely young lady gets to sing with her dad and do some solo appearances as well.  Bill Medley was a great friend of Elvis Presley and tells stories about Elvis within his show. The show was a sell-out and hopefully he will return soon.
