Brenda Lee, “Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree”

We’re rockin’ around the Christmas tree at the Christmas party hop… today on “Red’s Animated Advent Calendar”, a series of YouTube videos celebrating the holiday season.

Brenda Lee‘s original version of “Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree” was written by Johnny Marks, who also wrote Christmas favourites “Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer” and “A Holly Jolly Christmas”.

Not a huge hit when it was originally released, “Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree” has sold more than 25 million copies. The song has stood the test of time: it’s #2 this week on Billboard‘s Hot 100, right behind Mariah Carey‘s “All I Want For Christmas Is You”.

Brenda says, “When I recorded ‘Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree’ in 1958, I never could have dreamt that it would become a Christmas standard that would be listened to year after year and loved by generation after generation. I always loved the song and knew it was great, but we never imagined it would become the quintessential Christmas song it has become.”

“Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree” was created by award-winning LA-based visual effects studio Ingenuity Studios for UMe, Universal Music Group’s global catalogue company.
