Catching Up With An Old Friend: Pat O’Day

red1030aPat O’Day ruled the Seattle radio airwaves with humor and entertainment for many years. He was Program Director of KJR and a partner in Concerts West Productions that toured the likes of BTO, Jimi Hendrix, Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra across America. He has a legendary reputation in the Jet City.

Pat underwent brain surgery a few months ago. An egg-sized tumour on the inside of his skull was removed and he walked out of the hospital just days after the operation. We wanted to show our support by visiting. As Pat lives on San Juan Island it is a bit of a trip to see him. Good friend Phil Mackesy and I got up early one morning and flew from Bellingham to Friday Harbor to pay a visit to our good buddy. It turns out the tumour was benign and Pat looks great. We enjoyed our visit with this iconic American broadcaster. Of course, being in Friday Harbor, we enjoyed some seafood on the water at one of their cafes!

Pat is active in real estate on San Juan Island and with Seattle’s Schick Shadel Hospital. Pat O’Day is as much a part of Seattle as the Space Needle and Pike Place Market. Thanks for the hospitality, Pat!
