Celebrating Don Hamilton

On a sunny afternoon at the Beach House Restaurant in West Vancouver, about 65 folks showed up to pay tribute to the late Don Hamilton. Don’s son Russ organized the get together and acted as host. Don was general manager at CKLG-AM and CKLG-FM (before it became C-FOX). He also was heavily involved with the Progressive Conservative party over the years, helping with the campaigns of Joe Clark, Robert Stanfield and Brian Mulroney.  Don was service-oriented and involved himself with projects such as EXPO ’86, and was at one time a director of CBC. He was a force in the marketplace responsible for taking CKLG to great heights. Don was an innovator who created Broadcast News decades ago.

Some in attendance included Jim Conrad, Fanny Kiefer, Myles Murchison, Roy Hennessy, Jody Vance, MP Andrew Saxon, Terry David Mulligan (above), and a host of former employees, captains of industry and political friends and associates. All in all a most reflective afternoon and a proper send off for one of the movers and shakers in our town. He will be missed.
