Celebrating Foncie’s Fotos

As you know there is a display of Foncie’s Fotos at the Museum of Vancouver. Foncie Pulice was a street photographer who stationed himself in downtown Vancouver and at the PNE and shot a million photos of Vancouver citizens over decades.

Here is a “Foncie foto” of me at 18 on Granville Street walking to work at CJOR. I had just graduated from High School and discovered what I was meant to do.

Here’s an even earlier “foto”: me and my pal Irving Briscoe returning from a swim at the downtown YMCA in 1949:

The photos nicely date the city and the earlier decades. Be sure to take the display in at the museum and if you have one kicking around in your drawer get it to the Knowledge Network. They are featuring the best of the photos they receive with an accompanying story about the photo and the people in the shot. Send yours in today.
