Connie Francis came to Vancouver In 1958 as the opening act for Nat “King” Cole at Denman Auditorium. This tiny little bundle of energy was loaded with talent and could sing rock and roll and ballads too. I fell in love with her immediately. Bobby Darin had fallen for Connie too, but her father/manager insisted that she not marry Bobby.

Connie had 35 Top 40 hits from 1958 to 1964 and she had three No. 1 hits: Everybody’s Somebody’s Fool and My Heart Has a Mind of its Own in 1960 and Don’t Break the Heart that Loves You in 1962. Connie’s biggest hit, Who’s Sorry Now, was an old standard that her dad loved so Connie recorded it and it became a million seller, one of many.

Connie is 77 today and you can keep in touch via her official website, Facebook and Twitter pages.

I’m not the only one who feels Connie is long overdue for recognition by the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. See Why Isn’t Connie Francis In The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame? and Why Aren’t They In The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame: Connie Francis.
