Craig Ferguson returns to “The Red”

What a week I had! Mid-week Terry Stewart, President and CEO of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame came for a visit, as I am turning much of my memorabilia over to the hall. Terry brought RRHF archivist Andy Leach along to investigate my collection. Thursday morning we appeared on Larry & Willy’s morning show on JackFM and then on to News 1130 for an interview followed by a drop-in with Great Scott Miller on FUN FM. This was followed with a visit from John Mackie of the Vancouver Sun. From there I proceeded with my guests to the Red Robinson Show Theatre where webmeister and friend Phil Mackesy and theatre stage manager Steve Stenner joined us. Terry and Andy looked over the theatre but were more interested in the displayed memorabilia! Bruce Allen and I took our guests to dinner at a downtown restaurant on Thursday night. Friday I drove Terry and Andy to the airport.

Friday night it was out to the theatre they named after me for an interview with Eric Burdon, who by the way put on one hell of a show. Rich Elwood joined me for the show. Rich brought this town its first comedy club, Punchlines, and is a good friend. He and wife Donnelle were knocked out by Burdon who performed better than I have seen him in years.

Saturday night it was Craig Ferguson at the “Red”. As it was my grand daughter Mazzy’s 9th birthday, which we celebrated at my home, I thought it would be nice if my daughter Sheri came to see Craig Ferguson with me and have Carole take care of the kids. Craig flew into Vancouver for two shows on Friday night at the River Rock and a show at the Red Robinson Show Theatre. I never knew that this exceptional man is also a pilot and flew himself here. His show was hilarious and he could have sold out three more, such is his fame and popularity .

Sunday night it was off to the Capilano University Theatre for a show with Herb Alpert and wife Lani Hall. I had the pleasure of talking with Herb about his amazing career and also did an interview with Lani (the silky voice on Sergio Mendes hits such as Fool on the Hill and Mas Que Nada). Herb has won eight Grammy awards in his career and Lani has received one. This man and wife team are delightful people and tour because they love their music and hope all of us will too. We did. Herb has a new CD and it is a winner. Anything Goes features great songs from the American songbook.

The interviews will all be featured in the coming weeks on my Wednesday morning Red”s Reunion at 8:15am on Global TV throughout the province. I can’t say exactly when as the Olympics may take over my time slot for a few weeks. I hope this week is at least a little quieter. All in all it was busy but fun!
