Fiestas & Marathons: Mail

Hi Red, how are you? I went to Kitsilano in the 60’s and I knew Fred Latremouille from Kitsilano and I have talked to you and met you over the years. I actually saw you a couple of months ago and I wrote in for a request (which you played), thank you very much.

I have a question for you about a song. I used to go the Blues Palace on Broadway and Alma many years ago – in the 60’s and I remember it to be one of the best spots for R&B in the city. Live bands and the best jukebox full of R&B tunes. There was a song I used to play in the jukebox that I just loved and I haven’t heard it for years. It was by the Fiestas and it was called Try it One More Time.  Do you remember this song?

I would love to hear it again if you can locate it. I have tried to find it on the web but there are only two songs by the Fiestas that I can locate. If you could find it and play it I would be very appreciative. I work on Sundays and can’t always have your show on, although I would love to listen to it the whole time it is on, but if I know you will play it at a certain time then I will make sure I have your show on regardless of who is around.

Thanks very much. I just love your show – it brings back so many memories of Vancouver in the 60’s… good ones!

Laura, I think I know where to locate the Fiestas hit and will play it. Thanks for the nice words.

Hi Red, just wanted to let you know that I listen to your great program every Sunday morning on my MP3 while training for the Boston Marathon in April. I love the music and it keeps me going when the going gets rough, like 32 kms yesterday. The songs you play are my vintage and I really enjoy the commentary about the various artists and your experiences as well.  Thanks again.
