Happy Birthday, Mark Lindsay!

Paul Revere and The Raiders charted 24 hits on Billboard magazine’s top 100 between 1963 and 1973. The lead singer on hits such as Kicks, Hungry and Good Thing was the one and only Mark Lindsay.  In this fascinating photo Mark is next to Dick ClarkPaul Revere, wearing Spock ears, is on the far right. Between Mark and Paul is a smiling Leonard Nimoy

Mark sang and played saxophone. He was a most gregarious presence in the band and a wonderful story teller. The Raiders came to Vancouver in 1963 just before they hit it big. We brought them into Kits Showboat where so many people showed up for C-FUN Night we had to barge the band in.

Louie, Louie became their first hit here. Mark’s first solo hit was Arizona in 1969. Other hits included Silver Bird and Neil Diamond‘s And The Grass Won’t Pay No Mind. Mark owned a restaurant in Portland OR for several years. He is now 73. A most affable guy and a great musician.
