Little Anthony & The Imperials At The “Red”

It was a big reunion at the Red Robinson Show Theatre when Little Anthony and the Imperials graced the stage. Almost a year ago, Carole and I were at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductions in Cleveland and we had breakfast in the hotel where all the inductees were staying and at breakfast caught up with Anthony and his wife. Later that night we were guests of the show with Wanda Jackson, Jeff Beck, AC/DC, DJ Fontana, and of course Little Anthony as they were being inducted.

Two summers ago I did a long interview with Little Anthony at the PNE, where he was one of the headline acts. He still has the pipes to the delight of the audience who came to enjoy the group harmonies. Little Anthony will be remembered for hits such as Hurt So Bad, Shimmy,Shimmy Ko Ko Bop, and a host of others but one of his songs is timeless. Goin’ Out of My Head has become a standard and 30 years from now they will be singing this Teddy Randazzo classic. This was one of those shows where you were delighted to hear the music the way you remember it, and with a 9 piece band supporting the vocals it was a magic evening.
