Losing A Legend: B.B. King, 89

When there was a theatre named for me it was my great pleasure to introduce the “King of the Blues” and spend some time talking with him. He did most of the show from a chair set up for him on the stage. Many folks who caught his show that night will long remember seeing and hearing a true legend. B.B. King was a soft spoken and gentle person but when he applied his fingers to his guitar “Lucille”, it was magic.

He was kind also to the theatre. He signed his name to one of the posts in the Green Room. In an age where stars have a cadre of people to keep you away from them, it was a pleasure to be with a man who liked people and took time to talk with them. His music will live on as will my memories of him.
