Nazareth at the “Red”

I’m with Dan McCafferty, lead vocalist and founder of the band Nazareth. I asked Dan where the group’s name came from and he said, “From The Band with Robbie Robertson. Remember the song The Weight? The first line in that song was “I pulled into Nazareth / was feeling about half past dead…”

Not only did the group get its name from a Canadian songwriter/singer, but one of their biggest hits was Joni Mitchell’s This Flight Tonight. My favorite by the group is Love Hurts which was originally a hit for the Everly Brothers and later by Roy Orbison. It was the band’s only Top 10 hit in North America. This is their 40th anniversary tour with a stop off at the Red Robinson Show Theatre. They rocked loud and the crowd loved it.
