Simple Plan: Remember That Name

Simple Plan headlined at the Coliseum February 11 and I took my trusty shooter Sharron Bates for an interview for Global TV.  The band from Quebec had some very special guests including Vancouver’s Marianas Trench plus the band All Time Low and Abbotsford’s These Kids Wear Crowns. It was a great and loud night of music. The band’s name came from the movie A Simple Plan.

I couldn’t help but bring up the topic of the title of their albums to date. How’s this for double entendre? No Pads, No Helmets… Just Balls, a slogan created in the rugby world. Their next album, produced by Bob Rock, was titled Still Not Getting Any, which they say refers to not getting any respect. And now their latest effort titled Get Your Heart On.

They find life quite amusing and love tickling your funny bone. I was so impressed by these young men and in particular their dedication to charity. To date they have raised over $1 million for children’s charities. They have come a long way since opening for Avril Lavigne and Green DayNo Helmets… has sold over 4 million copies worldwide. I see a big future for these guys.
