It was a pleasure to meet up with British Invasion star Spencer Davis and his band at the Red Robinson Show Theatre. During my interview I discovered that Spencer had never played Vancouver until we invited him to join Legends of Rock and Roll at Expo 86. He remembers the show and the theatre in particular. I agreed with him that tearing it down was a lousy idea. We also talked about how he formed the band with Steve Winwood and his brother. Steve left to form the band Traffic and then Blind Faith.

Their first charted hit was Keep On Running in 1965. It’s interesting how many times their songs have been covered by others. Chicago did I’m a Man, the Blues Brothers recorded Gimme Some Lovin’, and there were many more. He is a true gentleman and carries his age very well.
