St. Patrick’s Day Parade

Vancouver’s annual St. Patrick’s Day parade was presented on a reasonable day weather wise, although it was cold riding in Alyn Edwards‘ green 1968 Shelby Cobra (one of only 300 ever made). Alyn generously donated the car and drove us in the parade. My good friend Dave Abbott passed away four months ago so we asked his widow Diane to ride with us. She accepted and was great fun to ride with.

At one point in the parade we felt a drip of rain, but it did not last and the parade finished before a downpour occurred. Just in front of us in the parade was a horse-drawn carriage carrying some local politicians. At  points along the way the horses dropped some “apples” and the carriage stopped while someone scooped up the fertilizer and placed it in a container. I couldn’t resist. I yelled out “That carriage must be full of politicians… look at the results!”

All in all a good time and a great turnout.
