Over the years I have become friends with Vancouver Police Chief Jim Chu. When footage of the Beatles‘ 1964 appearance was discovered in the police archives they asked if I would like to see it. Of course I did! It shows the pandemonium on Georgia Street where the Beatles were booked to stay at the Georgia Hotel. Not only does it show the downtown Vancouver scene, there’s much more including the preparations at Empire Stadium, the Beatles’ arrival, the crowd when the show was on and the conclusion when they left the stadium. It is indeed historic footage.

Yesterday I had a visit from VPD social media officer Sandra Glendinning. She interviewed me about the event 50 years ago. Thanks to the Vancouver Police Department for their consideration!

Thanks also to the PNE and Patrick Roberge for the opportunity of paying tribute to that historic show with a salute to the Beatles with the Band Revolver on stage at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow night.
