The Luck Of The Irish Runs Out

Vancouver’s 11th annual Celticfest has come and gone. This year my friend Alyn Edwards (who is Welsh) came up with a beautiful green 1955 T-Bird convertible for the annual parade.

Riding with us was good friend Rich Elwood, the man who brought comedy to Vancouver with his Punchlines club in Gastown years ago.

The turnout this year was fantastic considering that we were threatened with rain. Everything ran smoothly until we reached the finish line at the corner of Granville and Georgia when suddenly the car quit.

Alyn, Rich and I were out pushing it, and with the help of some viewers who came to our rescue, we pushed it out of the way and out of the parade. In no time it kicked over and we were on our way, thanks to the mechanical aptitude of Alyn Edwards.

We all believe many parade watchers thought it was some kind of joke. We all had a good laugh. The car itself is a beauty and has been restored. My only question is “Why do we always follow the horse drawn carriage?”. The aroma from the droppings was incredible. Well, there is always next year.
