The Rankins At The “Red”

The Rankin Family filled the Red Robinson Show Theatre to the rafters January 27. The family had not played the theatre since 2008. They have lost none of their love of music from the Maritimes and in particular Cape Breton. The audience reaction was most appreciative. At one point I asked how many in the audience were from the Maritimes and a roar went up. One of the Rankins is missing from this photo as she had come down with the flu. They carried on with the full band and the sound was great!

The Rankins have garnered 6 Juno Awards over the years plus 5 Canadian Country music awards and 4 SOCAN songwriting awards. The Rankins come from a  family of 12 and their music strikes a chord with people everywhere. They feature jigs, reels, and Celtic folk songs as part of their program. A great time was had by all.
