Dal Richards  just celebrated his 95th birthday with a get-together at Robson Square this week. This Sunday, January 13 the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra salutes Dal at the Orpheum… then the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver hosts a cocktail party at the Panorama Roof  (click here for ticket info) where Dal and his band played from 1940 through to the Seventies on the CBC Radio network.

The hotel opened the roof for this one occasion to pay tribute to Dal. He is a legend in our town. Just think… at 95 years of age, Dal is older than the Orpheum Theatre, the Lions Gate Bridge, the Commodore Ballroom, Vancouver City Hall and the Burrard Bridge. He is truly a Canadian icon.
