This August 22, the PNE will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Beatles‘ only appearance in Vancouver. This was also historic as it was the first time for a concert by the Beatles in Canada. The PNE’s anniversary tribute to the Fab Four features three tribute artists to open the show including Jackie DeShannon, The Exciters and the Righteous Brothers. These Vancouver performers will capture the essence of their appearance and then they will enter the park, leap to the Chevy Stage and give us musical memories of that magical event. There are a host of Beatles tribute acts, but we have chosen the group Revolver because of their authentic recreation of the Beatles sound. I am honoured to be emceeing this event as I did back in 1964 at Empire Stadium on the PNE grounds.

It is also a great honour to have a poster designed around the original concert. Glen Green, who designed the 2010 Winter Olympics coins, created this impressive poster showing me at a young age with a poster for that 1964 concert. There is a limited number available and they come complete with a letter of authenticity attached to each and every print .
