Remembering Chuck Davis

It was a heartwarming turnout for a tribute to Chuck Davis at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver Saturday. Chuck was the heartbeat of this city in so many ways. A little bit of Vancouver died with him. He had such a passion for the history of our town. He was never motivated by money but instead let his heart lead the way. I must compliment Jim Morrison for putting together an impressive documentary on Chuck’s life. Also kudos to Norm Grohmann for an outstanding job as emcee.  It was wonderful to see so many broadcasters paying homage to Chuck’s memory.

At the event I talked with Frosty Forst. He told me that Dave McCormick is in Vancouver General Hospital for investigation of a stomach ailment. Frosty said it was typical of Dave not wanting people to know at first.  The next day Frosty was rushed to hospital with a heart attack. He is said to be on the mend and will be home in a matter of days. The next day Roger Abbott, one of Canada’s finest comedic actors, died after a long battle with leukemia. Roger was the driving force behind the long running CBC-TV series Royal Canadian Air Farce. He will be missed.

Much has happened this month and it reminds all of us that we are mortal.
