Art Finley dies

The 60s through the 80s were the halcyon days of talk radio in this city of ours. There were bombastic hosts like Jack Webster and Pat Burns but the “thinking man’s host” was Art Finley. He was a thought provoking human being who had worked in media in San Francisco before heading north to Vancouver. Art worked at CKNW (1968-1974) and CJOR (1981-1986).

Art Finley was the Dick Cavett of talk show hosts. A few years ago he assigned his amazing interviews to UBC where they sit today. He left his mark on our city and will be missed both here and in San Francisco. I appeared on his radio show a few times over the years and found him to be a true gentleman.
