B.B. King, Lewis Black At The “Red”

It has been busy at the Red Robinson Show Theatre with two sellout shows featuring B. B. King and comedic actor Lewis Black.

Lewis Black filled the theatre with laughter and the expected profanity. He told me his mentors were George Carlin and Lenny Bruce. In his mind it is all about free speech and he intends to stretch the limits! Lewis was voted one of the top 100 comedians of all time. You might have seen him on episodes of Law And Order and on The Comedy Network, where he does standup.

B.B. King did not disappoint with his appearance at the “Red”.  He is the world’s top blues singer/guitarist. This was an outstanding evening. B.B. is 86 but you would never know it when he picks up the guitar.  He is also one of the great storytellers and the stories are funny and fascinating. B.B. started his career in Memphis where he was known as the Beale Street Blues Boy. Then it was shortened to Blues Boy and finally edited to simply B.B.  The word “icon” is overused but in B.B.’s case it is true.
