The king of venom, Don Rickles, has lost none of his charm. Mr. Warmth took to the stage of the Red Robinson Show Theatre and wowed the crowd with his cryptic humour. He is one in a million and the audience loved him to the tune of three standing ovations. This man has been an inspiration for many comics and once you see him in action you can see why. I hope this is not the last appearance by Don. We love him…

Vancouver’s adopted celebrity, Mitzi Gaynor, always loved this city and came here many times over the years to appear at the Cave Theatre Restaurant. When it disappeared Mitzi appeared at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre. She was close friends with impresario Hugh Pickett. The outpouring from the crowd at the River Rock Show Theatre thrilled her and you could see how impressed she was that we had not forgotten her. The lady is a premier talent and we hope she comes back to town soon… Elvis Presley’s estate is suing Arista Music for $9 million in upaid royalties dating back to 2002 for ringtones, downloads and apps. It also alleges the label, then called RCA, exploited Presley in a $5.4 million 1973  buyout of his catalogue. It claims that, as a result of the contract, Presley went on to receive $10 a year for worldwide rights to each of more than 1000 recordings, and wants a share of future revenue. Arista’s current owner, Sony, did not comment. Interesting… Sad to hear about the death of legendary Vancouver impresario David Y.H. Lui at 67. David was co-founder of Ballet B.C. In 2000 Lui was made a member of the Order of Canada for his work in the arts. He has a star on the B.C. Entertainment Walk of Fame along Granville Street…
